3 easy ways to reduce energy use

We all know that it is important to reduce our energy use, but where to start? Will replacing all your light bulbs have as much effect as installing ceiling insulation? Find out the 3 easiest and cheapest ways to quickly reduce your energy consumption and improve your greenhouse gas emissions!

Reduce your energy use and greenhouse gas emissions cheaply and quickly:

Step 1:

Install ceiling insulation - with the help of the Australian Government's Ceiling Insulation Rebate, you can make a BIG difference to your energy use and reduce your carbon emissions. Up to 35% of your heating and cooling energy is lost through an uninsulated roof space. While you're at it, seal any gaps or draughts to reduce your lost energy further.

Step 2:

Replace your elcetric stroage hot-water system with a new, high efficiency gas heater. Add a solar pre-heater for even more reductions. Your old hot water system is working its heart out to have hot water availiable just in case you want it! With a continuous flow hot water system, you heat water only when you need it. Gas uses a lot less energy and is responsibe for much less carbon emissions than fossil-fuel powered electricity.

Step 3:

Pay some attention to your fridge! Your fridge is on all day, so it can be a big energy user. If replacing your fridge, buy an energy efficient model. If not, make sure it adequately ventialted, has effective seals, and is kept 80% full!
